REHABILITATION SERVICES

TFRNC is pleased to announce extended physical and occupational therapy services, which will be offered in the morning AND in the afternoon, seven days a week. This extension of of our therapy program will potentially reduce the length of stay for our short-term rehabilitation clients and provide more focused treatment for our long-term care Residents. We look forward to initiating this new dimension to our existing therapy program.

Physical, Occupational and Speech Therapies are available to Residents who, upon assessment, are identified as candidates for restoration of function or improvement in functional capabilities through adaptive skills training. We offer long and short-term rehabilitation services and seven-day-a-week therapy.

Services offered include Physical, Occupational and Speech Therapies for the following:
  • Amputees
  • Brain Injuries
  • Sensory Stimulation
  • Chronic Pain
  • Spinal Cord Injury/Disorders
  • Post Stroke (CVA) Rehabilitation
  • Musculoskeletal Disorders
  • Neurological Disorders
  • Therapy/Restorative
  • Neuromuscular Disorders
  • Use of Prosthetic and Orthotic Assistive Devices

The Rehabilitation Services Department is made up of the Occupational Therapist who is the department head, and the Physical and Speech Therapists, as well as Rehabilitation Assistants. This group of professionals is dedicated to improving the quality of Resident life while restoring and maintaining function.

S.H.A.R.P.S. Program

Tolstoy Foundation Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, a healthcare facility is a participating in Rockland County’s SHARPS Program. This program is dedicated to ensuring that needles, syringes, and lancets used for self-medication are properly disposed of. This disposal service is not, however, for physician’s offices or healthcare facilities. The program is specifically designed for those residents with diabetes or other medical conditions, such as cancer or allergies, requiring medication by injection. Within Rockland County there are numerous drop off points - monthly the location changes pursuant to an established schedule: The drop-off is at the service (side) entrance of the facility from 10am-12pm and 6pm-8pm on October 1st, 2019. Participating facilities include:

  • Helen Hayes Hospital
  • Northern Manor Multicare Center, Inc.
  • Northern Metropolitan, Inc.

  • Nyack Ridge Nursing Home
  • Pine Valley Center for Rehabilitation and Nursing
  • Ramapo Manor Center for Rehabilitation and Nursing
  • Dr. Robert Yeager Health Center
  • Summit Park Hospital & Nursing Care Center
  • Tolstoy Foundation Rehabilitation and Nursing Center Co., Inc.
