Throughout the day, group and individual activities are provided for Residents – the programs, conducted in both English and Russian, are designed to promote avenues for self-expression, creativity and socialization. These activities are enjoyable, meaningful and dignified. Examples of our activity programs include:
Of particular enjoyment for our Residents is the monthly Namesday Party, a marriage of the Old-World tradition of acknowledging the feast of the patron saint and the modern-day custom of celebrating the birth date. The blessing, which commences the festivities, is bestowed by Father Gregory Kotlaroff, the priest from St. Sergius of Radonezh Russian Orthodox Church, located on the property adjoining TFRNC. Live music and luscious delights follow as honorees are presented with reminders of their special day. And, as with all special events at TFRNC, family members and friends are encouraged to join in the celebration.
To make the warm summer months more enjoyable, barbecues are held weekly, outside under the tented pavilions, allowing Residents to enjoy the combination of country air and the mouth-watering aroma of food being grilled just for them!
Screened porches, adjoining the dayrooms, permit Residents to enjoy the fresh air while relaxing with a cool drink, in a safe, supervised environment.

Religious services are an intricate part of life at TFRNC. For those holy days when services are not held in-house, transmissions from the St. Sergius of Radonezh Russian Orthodox Church can be heard in the Resident Dining Room.
Father Gregory celebrates Orthodox Easter, other holy day services, and bestows the blessing commencing the monthly namesday celebration. He visits the sick at nearby hospitals, and remains on-call 24-hours for the sick and dying. Currently Roman Catholic clergy celebrate Holy Mass in-house on the last Friday of each month and on Easter and Christmas, remaining on-call 24-hours for the sick and dying. We encourage clergy from all faiths to minister to their faithful who reside at TFRNC- we believe that religion is a very important part of life, particularly for the elderly and infirm, and we endeavor to accommodate all requests.
A specialized, therapeutic program, Sunshine Club, is in place. This unique program focuses on meeting the social and sensory needs of those Residents diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease and related disorders.
