DIETARY & NUTRITIONAL SERVICES

At Tolstoy Foundation Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, food is far more than a mere life-sustaining supplement. Continental cuisine, an array of Russian delights, and traditional American favorites are among the menu items.  Our Russian and American chefs generally are able to  accommodate Resident food preferences, so long as medically permitted.

A Registered Dietitian (RD) plans and oversees meal service. The RD conducts nutritional assessments, participates in the care plan process and assures that meals are nutritious, tasty, and consistent with physician orders while reflective of Resident preferences. The Dietitian monitors Residents' nutritional status on an ongoing basis to ensure that nutritional needs of all Residents are being met.

For the convenience of our Residents, breakfast is served in their rooms.  Lunch, which is the main meal of the day, is served in the main dining room located on the upper level.  For the evening repast, TFRNC Residents are permitted to choose between going to the main dining room or eating in their rooms.  For those Residents who are a part of the feeding group, their meals are usually taken in the glass dayrooms looking out onto sloping green hillsides, magnolia trees, while visiting critters wander by.

Our Dietary Department also provides mid-afternoon and evening snacks, and nourishment to our Residents.
